Criteria for a copyright notice

This service allows anyone to ask the Intellectual Property Office to provide basic guidance on an area of copyright law where there is particular confusion or misunderstanding.

You cannot use this service to:

• register a copyright work. Copyright protection is automatic. There is no official copyright register and no forms or fees are needed to get copyright protection.
