Our advice to food businesses providing non-prepacked food is that written allergen information, supported by a conversation, works best for consumers.
Written allergen information should be readily available, if possible, without consumers having to ask for it, such as on the main menu, allergen booklet on a counter or matrix displayed on a wall in a consumer accessible area. Our best practice guidance (opens in new tab) and downloadable tools (opens in new tab) will help you provide allergen information for non-prepacked foods to consumers effectively.
