Introduction and Applicant details

This application is to request a change in vessel administration between England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

It can be completed by;

  • the vessel owners(s), or,

  • prospective vessel owner(s)

Rules for permitting a vessel transfer

The rules for permitting a transfer are outlined in the 'Concordat on management arrangements for fishing quotas and licensing in the UK'. We can only permit a move where;

  • the vessel genuinely moves its place of operation, for example, as a result of sale

  • the vessel is genuinely changing fishing pattern, for example. the vessel will be fishing out of a different port

Local licence restrictions

  • Administrations will decide, on a case by case basis, whether any local licence restrictions should apply to the licences of vessels.

To complete this application you will need the following information, if you are buying the vessel you will need to ask the seller for this information;

  • The vessel's certificate of registry as we ask for the vessel name, port letter number (PLN) and registry of shipping & seamen number (RSS).

  • Details for the current and future fishing administration and port the vessel regularly fishes/will fish from. If the vessel does not regularly fish, we need the administrative port which is where the agent is usually based.

  • Producer Organisation name if the vessel does, or will belong to one.

  • Your reasons for requesting a vessel transfer.
