BBNJ: Complete a marine genetic resources utilisation form (commercialisation)

Purpose

Use this form to provide information about a utilisation project involving marine genetic resources of areas beyond national jurisdiction where that utilisation has resulted in commercialisation.

You must complete this form if you are the relevant person responsible for a utilisation project in the United Kingdom that has resulted in commercialisation.

The information must be provided to the UK BBNJ Focal Point within one month beginning with the day on which the relevant product is first made available.

If the product remains available after one year, you must submit updated information annually for every year, or part of a year, that the product remains available.

The UK BBNJ Focal Point will submit the information to the BBNJ Clearing-House Mechanism.

If you need additional time to provide information, any extension must be agreed in writing with the UK BBNJ Focal Point.

The utilisation information the UK BBNJ Focal Point will submit to the BBNJ Clearing-House Mechanism will contain a general link to the UK Patent Office website.

You do not need to provide any further information on any patents that may have been registered in the UK.

Before you start

You may need:

  • details of the institution or entity involved in the utilisation project
  • the BBNJ standardised batch identifier, if available
  • details of the post-collection notification, if available
  • information about the results of the utilisation project
  • information about where the original sample is held
  • information about access arrangements for marine genetic resources
  • information about access arrangements for associated digital sequence information
  • a data management plan
  • a document containing the full data management plan, if you want to upload one
  • information about sales of relevant products
  • information about further product development
